Trump’s Day of Reckoning: Former President Could Face Jail Time
Donald Trump is facing a number of legal challenges, including two criminal indictments and several civil lawsuits.
In New York, Trump is facing 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in connection with a hush-money payment made to Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election. He is also facing seven charges related to the handling of classified documents after leaving the White House.
Trump is also the subject of a criminal investigation in Georgia into his attempts to overturn the 2020 election results in that state. The Justice Department is also investigating Trump’s role in the January 6 attack on the Capitol.
In addition to the criminal investigations, Trump is facing several civil lawsuits. These include a lawsuit from New York Attorney General Letitia James alleging that he engaged in a decade-long pattern of financial wrongdoing, and a lawsuit from two Capitol police officers who allege that he incited the violence on January 6.
Trump has denied all of the allegations against him. He has called the New York investigation a “witch hunt” and the January 6 lawsuit “frivolous.”
