Host: Libbe HaLevy

Nuclear Hotseat is a weekly radio show that explores the nuclear industry from a critical perspective. The show is hosted by Libbe HaLevy, a nuclear activist and author. It can be heard at 8PM Wednesday nights on Activate Radio activatemedia.org.

In each episode, HaLevy interviews experts and activists about the nuclear industry. They discuss a wide range of topics, including the safety of nuclear power, the environmental impact of nuclear waste, and the economics of nuclear energy.

Tonight: SPECIAL! Int’l Uranium Film Festival: Libbe’s Report from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Nuclear Hotseat producer/host Libbe HaLevy has traveled to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to cover the 12th annual International Uranium Film Festival. The IUFF is the only place on earth that presents films focused solely on issues of the entire nuclear fuel chain, from uranium mining to reactors to bombs to nowhere to safely store the highly radioactive waste that results for the necessary quarter of a million years. But these film stories from around the world are told in human terms – with artistry, a quirky sense of humor when possible, and unabashed emotional responses to the terrible radiation truths that have been forced upon the innocent.

INTERVIEWS:

  • IUFF Founder/Director Norbert Suchanek

  • Julian Vogel (Scotland/Sweden), Director, MISSION: ICBM

  • Miguel Silviera (Brazil/US), Director, DEVIL’S WORK

Nuclear Hotseat is a thought-provoking and informative show that challenges the status quo on nuclear energy. The show is a must-listen for anyone who is interested in learning more about the nuclear industry.

Nuclear Hotseat is a valuable resource for anyone who wants to learn more about the nuclear industry. The show is informative, thought-provoking, and challenging. If you are interested in learning more about all things nuclear, then you should definitely check out Nuclear Hotseat.

7PM Economic Update

Economic Update is a weekly radio program hosted by economist Richard Wolff. He takes complex economic issues and makes them understandable, empowering listeners with information to analyze not only their own financial situation, but the economy at large. By focusing on the economic dimensions of everyday life – wages, jobs, taxes, debts, interest rates, prices, and profits – the program explores alternative ways to organize markets, and government policies. Tonight’s show: Corporations vs Democracy

Prof. Wolff analyzes the corporation. It stands as a basic institution blocking real democracy in our society. The corporation’s structure and operations empower and enrich a tiny social minority at the expense of the people’s wealth and democratic power. Like the critiques of slave plantations and feudal manors that preceded the disappearance of those systems, the growing critique of capitalism reflects but also informs critical social movements now.

8PM Final Straw Radio

The Final Straw Radio is a weekly, english-language anarchist radio show founded in Asheville, NC.  We strive to cover current and enduring topics by going to the source and speaking to the people involved and effected by struggles around them, with an anti-authoritarian and anti-capitalist perspective.  Tonight’s show: Trans Resilience in Texas.

Our interview with journalist and community organizer, Kit O’Connell (of the Texas Observer), and anarchist and activist lorén (of QTPIE or Queer and Trans People Illuminate Everything). Both folks are trans folks in Austin, Texas, and we speak for the hour about the increasing legal and social oppression of trans and gender non-conforming folks in that state as well as across the so-called USA, some of its impacts on trans children and children of trans parents, organizing, allyship and community defense.

Reverend Billy & the Stop Shopping Choir come to Joes Pub on May 7 & 14 at 4pm, JoesPub.com/tickets. It’s three blocks from where Jordon Neely was murdered.

The buskers, the doowop groups, the jugglers, Mariachi combs and rappers, and the Michael Jackson moon-walkers like Jordon Neely, killed by an ex-marine/son of a cop from Long Island. A light was extinguished, lighting up of the underground canyons of this city. Years ago, Mayor Guiliani shot, jailed or shipped out of town the characters that might be scary to the tourists in Times Square, making way for the Lion King era. But those weirdos will break through the wall of the monoculture with their unsanctioned song and dance, call them the Unknown.
