Ken Wilber and Steven John Simon On Talking Hendrix

Friday Night 7-8 p.m. on

By Ed Wrobleski

Our first guest this week are new upcoming singer/songwriter Ken Wilber:

Ken Wilber was born in Oneonta, NY on October 29th, 1980. His earliest musical influences were Conway Twitty, Merle Haggard, George Jones and Johnny Cash. His family remembers him at a young age staring at the records as they played, trying to understand the music he heard. Ken learned to sing by trying to emulate the people he heard on the recordings and would keep at it, until he could copy every little inflection of the vocal performance. In high school Ken discovered his second love, theater. He made his theatrical debut at the age of 14 in a high school production of “Fame.” The band Fly By Nite was formed with Ken as lead singer where they played locally every weekend at a local watering hole called “Babcocks.” Fly by Nite played together for a little over ten years, before dissolving in 2012. Ken Also sang with the southern rock Group J.D. Mistress. Ken was brought in by guitar player Rich Rogers. He played with them for about six months, where they played several dates locally and had the opportunity to open for Molly Hatchet and Blackfoot in Albany, NY. After Fly By Nite dissolved, Ken and Kerry Fallot set out to begin writing and arranging music for Ken’s first album “Rollin’ My Own,” and the album was completed in 2017.Ken had the opportunity to play country music Legend Hank Williams in a local theatrical production of “Hank Williams: Lost Highway.” Tony Cottrill mastered the first project and shortly after the mastering was completed, Tony contacted Ken to come to Nashville to record a demo session for Sonny LeMaire of Exile fame. As a result of the demo sessions, Ken decided to record his second album in Nashville in October of 2018. New Album projected release 1st Qtr 2019 produced by Tony Cottrill and Sonny LeMaire.

Our Second guest is another singer/songwriter Steven John Simon:

Steven John Simon was discovered on social media platforms by an A&R Rep at Heart Songs Records and was swiftly signed to a management production deal with the label. His social media growth is on fire. Over the course of a few months he has developed a fan base of country music fans that are encouraging him to pursue his music. They want more!

Steven was born and raised in Louisiana. He is a family man and loves being a single father to his two children Navika & Cole. Steven works in the oil field as did his father and most of the men in his family. He ventured into the oil field after serving our country in the Marine Corps. He was stationed at Camp Pendleton (California) for two years and then spent three years on security at the Embassy in Dakar, Senegal, West Africa & Singapore. Steven is currently a Subsea Engineer which includes the operation and maintenance of the Blowout Preventers (BOP’s).

Steven became interested in singing at the age of 20, but put his dream on the back burner to serve our country. It was his daughters desire to start pursuing a career in music that led him to start pursuing his own dream. He wanted to lead by example and guide Navika in her own journey. “What a better way to help my daughter, than show her how it is done.” They really are supportive of one another, they recently traveled together to audition for The Voice.

Steven said recently in an interview, “My main reason for pursuing it now is to show my kids that anything is possible if you WORK for it! No one will hand it to you, you have to make it happen.”

Steven released his first single, produced by Larry Beaird,

“Tongue Tied” on 11.30.18 which made its debut on Itunes Hot Tracks. Steven’s second single, “Eyes Closed,” will be available for pre-order on Feb 15 and distributed and released to all digital platforms on March 22
